The 10th UK National Heat Transfer Conference was held in
Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. Organised by Edinburgh University and Heriot-Watt
University on behalf of the UK National
Committee for Heat Transfer. The conference will include contributions
relevant to all aspects of heat transfer and related mass transfer.
Following on from the format developed
at the UKHT Conferences in Manchester and Oxford we aim to ensure that this
will be an informal and lively event allowing time for the exchange of
information regarding the
latest work in all aspects of heat transfer. Graduate students and others at
early stages in their careers in heat transfer are particularly encouraged
to attend - this will be
an excellent opportunity to present your own work and to meet others active
in the field. To aid this, a limited number of bursaries will be made
available to doctoral research
students, through the generosity of British Airways, to help cover the costs
of participation.
The final versions of all accepted papers will be published on a CD. It is
anticipated that Special Issues of Applied Thermal Engineering (Elsevier)
and Heat Transfer
Engineering (Taylor & Francis) will be devoted to papers presented at the
Conference. The Guest Editors will select appropriate papers for peer
review, with the agreement of the
authors, shortly after the conclusion of the Conference.
The Committee organises the UK's biennial national heat transfer conference
and acts as the focus for contacts with heat transfer conference activities
worldwide, especially the
International Heat Transfer Conference held every four years
The papers for the conference were available on the conference web site
before the conference and for a few months afterwards. Authors retained the
copyright of the papers and
were therefore free to publish the papers at a later date. Furthermore,
papers were selected for publication in special editions of Applied Thermal
Engineering and of Chemical
Engineering Research and Design

what you think about any heat transfer topic. Ask a question if you are
curious about some aspect
of heat transfer because there may be an expert out there who can give you
